- Converting strings to dates works like a charm:
SELECT str_to_date('23-09-1987', '%d-%m-%Y'); -> 1987-09-23
But how about converting strings to times/timestamps:
SELECT str_to_date('11:40', '%H:%M'); -> null
we have str_to_time and timestamp now in default.

I can not seem to find any definitions of built in functions that take a string and produce anything other than a date.
