MonetDB vs. the new MariaDB ColumnStore

Hi all, MariaDB has released a first alpha version of their new ColumnStore (which is essentially InfiniDB). We have done a first tentative performance test and did a comparison of MariaDB ColumnStore vs. MonetDB. For most of the test cases, MonetDB wins hands down. NULL value with embedded py

Hello, I am creating a table using the result of an embedded py function. The result of the function is a dictionary composed of numpy arrays. The function and the CREATE TABLE work well. Inside the arrays of the dictionary, I have a few np.nan values, they seem to be recognized by monet during the creation of the table. In fact, when I query the whole table, I can see ‘null’ in the proper places. But if I try to compare against these null values, I get nothing (SELECT * FROM table where field is null). After a few trials, it seems to me that monet understands that np.nan is a NULL value, but then when it inserts the value into the table the internal representation (?) is somewhat different form a ‘normal’ NULL value. Recover an inconsistent database?

Hi, I'm getting the following error while starting a database. *!FATAL: Logger_new: inconsistent database, catalog does not exist* Is there any means to recover this database with data and start it? Or, the only way is to create a new database? (P.S.: There is no backup of data) Thanks & Regards, Vijay.

aggregation with complex function

Hello, I have an embedded python function which, given two integer parameters, after doing some stuff returns a table. I would like to group by a table by these two input parameter, and for each resulting group call the function. The result would be the concatenation of all the tables returned by the function. I understand that a thing like this would be very easy if the function returned just one value e.g.: select my_aggr_function(value1, value2) from table group by value1, value2 But how can I do this if my_aggr_function returns multiple rows?? Dynamic Queries

Hi Im trying to create a Procedure to create (or not) tables dynamically. Does Monet can do something like the following?? Issue with bugzilla

There seems to be an issue with Bugzilla. If I make a bug report and select Jul2015-SP4, after saving the version is Oct2014-SP2. The first few times that this happened I thought it had been my mistake in selecting the version, but now I'm sure it wasn't. Roberto

Update JOIN?

Is it possible to Update Join in Monet? I need something like this... (just an example) UPDATE MY_TABLE AS a, ( SELECT (SUM( t.mins * t.acpm ) / t.rcpmax) AS calc1 (SUM( t.mins * t.acxh ) / t.acxmax) AS calc2 FROM MY_TABLE AS t GROUP BY t.source, t.name_id ) AS q SET a.awc = q.calc1, a.lcr = q.calc2 WHERE a.source = q.source AND a.name_id = q.name_id When I try to execute this type of query, I get this error... syntax error, unexpected AS, expecting SET in: "update sb_rmsv.rmsv_nts_nt_sum_report as"

copy into from csv with delimiters in quoted field

Hello, i have an issue with the "copy into" statement and a csv file. In the documentation[1] it says: "Field and record separators can be embedded in quoted fields." This does not work in v11.21.19. example.csv: 1,"\,\,",42,, 2,",,",23,, create table issue(id int, str varchar(32), val int, empty int); copy into issue from 'example.csv' using delimiters ',' NULL AS ''; The first line with the escaped delimiters works, the second does not: Failed to import table Leftover data '23,,' Is this a bug i should report or am i doing something wrong with the above statements?
