^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^macro "AM_MONETDB_JAVA" has been removed from the code base quite some time ago --- are you sure that you code is clean and up-to-date and you have not legacy installation lying around?
Sorry, I didn't see the CVS/Tag file in my source code, so I checked out code from a wrong (older) branch.
