If a change fixes a problem which everyone suffers from, the version 
number *should* be bumped.  *I* agree with you that this *should* have 
been the case for this situation.

I have this fixed in the current branch.  It works for me now.  Some 
nasty regression bug, unfortunately.  It would be great if you would 
report this kind of things as a bug next time, then it draws more 
attention to us, and what kind of report this is.

Could you report this as a separate bug please?  That would be easier 
for us to deal with.
