This change greatly increases the need to push for 'private BATs as default', because every call to BATdescriptor initiates expensive locking. At this level in the interpreter it doubles the overhead of accessing the BATs!

Otherwise, this change have to be moved to the individual operations with, of course, the increased maintenance.
