Feature releases are major software releases typically issued twice a year, possibly requiring a dump-and-restore action. Moreover, the interface and functionality may be changed.
In between feature releases, (bi-)monthly patch releases are issued. Simply stopping the server, installing the patch, and restarting the server is sufficient to remain up to date.
