Feature releases are major software releases typically issued twice a year, possibly requiring a dump-and-restore action. Moreover, the interface and functionality may be changed.
In between feature releases, monthly patch releases are issued. Simply stopping the server, installing the patch, and restarting the server is sufficient to remain up to date.
